Color For A Cure™ 5K run/walk is a charity event for the College Girl® Against Breast Cancer Nonprofit Foundation.
Color For A Cure™ 5K run/walk helps college students and the community to establish solid friendships and a strong new social network to help fight this deadly disease together. Monies raised through our Color For A Cure™ 5K run/walk across the nation allows our nonprofit foundation to provide educational, financial, and emotional awareness as well as simple loving support to people battling cancer.
About 1 in 8 U.S. women (just under 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. In 2013, an estimated 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 64,640 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer (http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/understand_bc/statistics). These statistics prove that it is more important than ever for high school and college girls to become involved in breast cancer awareness programs and activities such as the Color For A Cure.org 5K run/walk. College Girl® Against Breast Cancer would like to see the number of survivors grow exponentially in the coming years, with teams of girls across the nation becoming involved with College Girl® Against Breast Cancer.
How it works
As you begin the run, you will be wearing a t-shirt that is as clean as a blanket of fresh snow, and while running The Most Colorful Nonprofit 5K Charity Event on Earth, you will get showered with vibrant colors of the rainbow. At each color station, your body will be covered from head to toe, making you look as though you just ran through a shower storm of rainbows!
The color used in the Color for a Cure™ 5K run/walk event is 100% natural, non-toxic, non-irritant, colored cornstarch. With this showering of colors, it will most definitely change your attitude about life but not your health!
